Finally finished my Kindle Case

It took almost a year. They've even come out with a new kindle since I started. But now its done and I'm pretty darn proud. I had to sew a bunch of squares together (commonly called quilting but since I've never quilted before i can't say that's what I actually did) and then I had to sew a lining to that and then put it all together. Luckly I had instructions. Here's my finished project!

New plates

I apparently haven't made any new plates since April. I had meant to take a short break from it but man, how time flies! My bestie Andrea asked me to do some plates for her bedroom so this is what she ended with.

I used art pens instead of paint for the intricate work and it turned out way better. Im thinking of doing some for my apartment now. I have a shoddy camera so Im sorry about the crappy photo. If I happen to do anything artistic soon i'll make sure and post it. I bought paint and canvases this weekend so hopefully I will figure out what to do with them.

Two more to add...

These are what I did on Saturday. I feel lazy because I honestly had time to do more but I just slept and bummed out instead. Im selling all of these Sunday at an event I'm face painting at and Im hoping to get some orders as well so....wish me luck!

Got a new camera!

Ok I havent really worked on much in the past month or so but here are some pics of what I have done. I will be face painting for an army picnic in a few weeks and I am also going to be selling my light plates there so right now im just trying to paint a bunch so I have a lot to sell that day. Amazing!

I guess all I had to do was complain about everything because right after my last blog, i plugged in my camera, and it worked! So now I can finally update my blog. =)

So valentines is one week away and my husband's bday is 6 days away. I bought him a gift for his bday but im making him his vday present. I would LOVE to be able to post a pic of it when i'm done but technology hates me right now. I found my camera cord but my USB port is malfunctioning and won't reconize the camera. I've tried using my cell phone but the pictures look horrible and fuzzy. I have so much i want to put on my blog but it looks like it's just not meant to be at this moment. I'll keep messing with stuff and maybe something will come together for me. I hope everyone is having a great week and happy early vday!

Hello again

I have been in a funk the last few weeks. I haven't felt like doing anything! Well, except play my video games and clean haha. But I have probably 3 or 4 art projects going on right now and I haven't had any motivation to finish them. I keep saying.."when i get home from work...." but then i get home and my brain turns to mush and everything i had planned suddenly sounds like too much work. I almost wish I worked in the evening because I definitely have more energy in the morning and I think more would get accomplished. Anyways....all this rambling is making me tired. I hope this weekend will be more productive and I then Ill actually have something fun to blog about =) Have a good week everyone!

Good news/Bad news

Well I finally found my camera cord! I hooked it up to my laptop and.....my laptop won't reconize it! It says it can't detect the drive or something dumb like that. My husband is going to look at it for me. This is turning into a saga!

Randomness...

So at work I made a holiday sign for a friend and it quickly became a mandatory "Caitrin must make a sign for every holiday" assignment from my co-workers. Now i think all the branches at the bank I work for have these stashed somewhere, haha. Here are some of the ones I've done...

Funny sign

My husband and I have a sun room so we decided to make that the dogs room so they can't wander around the house while we are at work. I made some light plates for their room (which i will have to show soon) and i made them this sign....

Although this sign clearly says "No Katz Allowed"...our cats still use that room more than they do. If only they could read...

Well I have a few people looking around for extra USB cords so that i can hook up my camera to my laptop but until then, i can only post pictures that have already been downloaded lol. I found these on my hardrive - enjoy!

This is one I did for my co-worker. Her daughter LOVES soccer and their colors are yellow and blue. You'd think this would of been simple to make but you have no idea how hard it is to paint soccer balls.

This is one a friend had me make for a baby shower she was attending.

And this one is for my brother-in-law. He was 11 when i made this. For some reason he's a big KC fan.

Kindle Case

So I got a kindle a few months ago (love love love it!) and I wanted to get a case for it but they are sooo expensive! So thanks to google I was able to find some instructions on how to make my very own! I wanted something easy so I found one that only required fabric, a hard cover book, and a glue gun. Hours later I found out that easy isn't always the best looking, haha. So I'm using my ugly, glued-up one for now so that my kindle won't get scratched, and I found an awesome, but more complicated pattern, for a new one! Here is a picture of what it will resemble:

Mine will be green, blue and some other colors. I have never quilted, nor done patchwork, so this will be interesting! Im hoping to have it done this weekend. Wish me luck!

Flavored water jar!

I'm sure the title confused you but let me explain. We drink lots of water and we are especially fond of the little packets of flavor you can buy to put into the water. I found this jar at a thrift store and painted it to match our italian-themed kitchen and now we have somewhere to store our flavor packets! I'm a genius.

I have done other stuff like this but we can't find the cord to connect the camera to the computer so for now all I have to show is this one =)

This is a painting that I was super happy to make. The man I painted in the white shirt died unexpectantly at a young age. His mother's biggest regret was that they had never had a family photo of them all before he died. I took a photo of them that they had taken after his death and painted him into the picture. She died a year after she got the painting but at least she finally had a complete family photo =)
